Systemic Enzyme Blend-Protease Blend-a blend of protein digesting enzymes including 5 different proteases which distinguish themselves for their ability to function in a wide rang of pH environments and temperature conditions. These enzymes have shown to posses valuable therapeutic actions as anti-inflammatory agents. Bromelain-a powerful protein digesting enzyme from pineapple contains valuable anti-inflammatory and therapeutic agents. Bromelain is helpful in reducing the pain, swelling, and tenderness associated with injury. Lipase-a potent fat digesting enzyme helpful for chronic inflammatory conditions and joint pain and swelling. Amylase-a carbohydrate digesting enzyme may be beneficial for treating joint immobility. Cellulase-an enzyme that breaks down plant fiber is known for its use in alleviating chronic pain syndromes. Chicken Collagen Type II-contains anti-inflammatory properties and has been clinically demonstrated to decrease pain and discomfort stemming from joint disorders. The compounds inherent in Chicken Collagen Type II provide the structural support of healthy joints by promoting new cartilage synthesis and by reducing oxidative damage to the joints. Chicken Collagen Type II contains naturally occurring chondroiton and glucosamine sulfates which help to bring water, shape, and cushioning back to the cartilage. Wild Oregano Concentrate-contains 31 known antiinflammatories, 28 antioxidants and 4 known potent COX-2 inhibitors. With its 31 anti-inflammatories, oregano has more of these compounds than any other herb in the USDA Phytochemical database. Ginger Extract-Ginger has multiple constituents that inhibit COX-2 inflammation. It balances production of inflammatory prostaglandins PGE3 and PG12. Ginger's constituents safely restore healthy platelet function by inhibiting the formation of an eicosanoid group called thromboxanes (one of the main functions of aspirin.) Ginger reduces prostaglandins that sensitize pain receptors at nerve endings, thereby demonstrating powerful analgesic (or pain reducing) effects. Poten-Zyme™ Cat's Claw Extract-has been extensively used by Peruvian Ashaninka Indians to treat a wide range of illnesses including asthma, urinary tract inflammation, inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, rheumatism, and bone pain. Cat's Claw contains potent phytochemicals called Quinovic Acid Glycosides. Studies indicate that some of it's constituents can inhibit inflammation from 46% to 69% in various in-vivo and in-vitro tests. Poten-Zyme™ Turmeric Extract-an Indian spice that demonstrates powerful anti-inflammatory properties and is a potent antioxidant. It is widely used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for the stimulation of beneficial liver action to relieve digestive inflammation. Poten-Zyme™ Alfalfa Extract-Provides over 90 biologically active minerals as well as eight unique enzymes. Alfalfa helps to alkalize the body which may reduce acidic deposits associated with inflammatory conditions. The alfalfa contained in FYI™ is a full spectrum extract of the alfalfa leaf and is therefore safe for use by those with auto-immune conditions. Rhododendron Caucasicum Extract-known as the snow rose grows high in the Caucasian mountains of the Republic of Georgia. The smaller antioxidant molecules found in Rhododendron extract showed higher antioxidant values, compared to extracts containing OPCs such as pycnogenol and grape seed extract. The cardio-protective properties of Rhododendron caucasicum includes elimination of capillary fragility and hemorrhoidal bleeding, as well as regulating blood pressure. Rhododendron has proven to be effective in ameliorating the symptoms associated with gout. In a clinical trial of over 170 volunteers with severe gout, the extract proved effective in just a few hours by relieving the painful symptoms associated with gout. Laminaria and Ulva Extract-edible brown and green sea vegetables which contain large amounts of protein, vitamins, and polysaccharides. These sea vegetables contain Glucuronic Acid. Studies on For Your Inflammation™ (FYI™ ) In laboratory animal studies conducted by Michael Whitehouse, Ph.D., at the University of Queensland, Australia, FYI™ was found to reduce inflammation with continued use. These effects were seen to be comparable to common NSAIDs but without any gastrointestinal damage. A study conducted at Bio Inova Life Sciences Laboratories evaluated the effectiveness of FYI™ on the immune system. In this study, researchers looked at natural killer (NK) cells and macrophage function. Natural killer cells roam the bloodstream looking for and destroying
foreign-invader cells. Macrophages are large white blood cells that also serve the immune system by killing foreign invaders. In the study, FYI™ was found to boost the immune system by enhancing the function of natural killer cells and macrophages. In a 90-day, 70-patient, blind placebo-controlled clinical study conducted at the Peoples University of the Americas School of Natural Medicine and directed by Dr. Peter Rothschild, M.D., PhD., and Jesus Garcia, M.D., researchers evaluated the effectiveness of FYI™ as a primary treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis. The end results of the study, in general, do indicate that FYI™ caplets qualify as a remarkable therapeutic agent for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). It is justified to emphasize that approximately 82% of the participating test patients achieved partial remission (60% improvement) or better at the conclusion of the study. Moreover, each of the remaining participants did attain varying but considerable degrees of palliation not less than 40% improvement. The placebo effects observed in the control group were completely negligible. Twenty patients of the original 35 pertaining to the control group dropped out of the study because of disappointment due to total lack of palliative results. Additional data from studies conducted on FYI™ showed the following results: 1) Individuals consuming FYI™ with abnormal immune markers showed a trend towards a modulation of the immune system as evidenced by a decrease in white blood cells an increase in neutrophiles a normalization of lymphocytes and a decrease in elevated monocytes, eosinophiles and basophiles. 2) Individuals consuming FYI™ with elevated inflammatory markers such as RA Latex and Uric Acid had a decrease in those markers with a corresponding improvement in symptoms. In addition, a significant number of beneficial observations were made in the course of the studies. These were beyond the scope of the established protocol and therefore were not incorporated into the official reports published in Progress in Nutrition: * Ten patients (seven females, three male) having suffered from chronic insomnia, reported total remission of this condition by study’s end. * Twelve patients (four females, eight males) having suffered from chronic digestive problems, reported significant improvement in digestive function by study’s end. * Seven patients (four females, three males) having suffered from chronic, recurrent migraine headaches, reported total remission from their headaches by the end of the study. * Fifteen patients (ten females, five males) having suffered from chronic constipation reported total remission by the end of the second month of treatment.e® 1 Attacking the Seven Causes of Inflammation Al·che·my ('al-k&-mE): a power or process of transforming something common into something special. -Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary There is an alchemy that all of us seek in life. Perhaps it will not be the discovery of a universal cure for disease or discovery of a means of indefinitely prolonging life or even transmutation of the base metals into gold, but, nevertheless, if we accept a more modest definition of this wonderful fourteenth century term, I believe that with FYI™ we have achieved a certain alchemy. I always try to study a problem thoroughly and then go about solving it in a comprehensive fashion. That's why I formulated FYI™ (For Your Inflammation) to attack the seven major causes of inflammation. I think the seven questions I've posed in this article, will help you to see why FYI™ can play a key role in alleviating your inflammation.
When cartilage deteriorates, we are left with bone against bone. But one of the beauties of traditional diets is that soup stocks made from whole chickens aid in rebuilding and maintaining cartilage health by supplying high quality collagen. Collagen draws water to the joints, which, in turn, helps with cushioning. So do eat chicken and beef stock (organic whenever possible). But also therapeutic amounts of collagen have been captured in FYI™. The uniqueness of the Type II chicken collagen that we use in FYI™ is that it comes from the chicken's entire body, not just the sternum, as with many other collagen products. In fact, I went to France to source our collagen because I wanted to work with farmers who don't farm chickens the way we typically do in America. Their chicken flocks receive no antibiotics or mammalian remnants in their feed. The collagen in FYI™ contains high amounts not only of chondroitin sulfates, but also large amounts of other related sulfated compounds, ideally structured for maximum absorption. What's more, because this is a whole food concentrate, the collagen in FYI™ will not cause adverse immune reactions.
Natural COX-2 inhibitors, on the other hand, are safe and effective. Besides its infection-fighting properties, oregano contains rosmarinic acid, which has been reported in laboratory studies to have significant COX-2 inhibiting properties comparable to medical drugs such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin. Ginger and turmeric are also natural COX-2 inhibitors. "In experimental studies, [ginger] has been shown to inhibit both the cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase pathways and the production of prostaglandins, thromboxane, and leukotrienes, just as the NSAIDs do," says James B. LaValle, R.Ph., N.M.D., C.C.N, author of The COX-2 Connection (Healing Arts Press 2001). "Yet its clear advantage is that no significant side effects have been reported, unlike the NSAIDs, which can have quite serious side effects associated with their use." Turmeric, closely related to ginger, is traditionally used to treat systemic inflammation. Researchers have shown that one of the major phytochemicals in turmeric has potent COX-2-inhibitory factors.
