Fruits of Life Antioxidant Formula

Fruits of Life by Garden of Life is a revolutionary antioxidant anti-aging whole food formula designed to assist the body in attaining vibrant health at the cellular level, providing over 21 certified organic nutrients and probiotics.

These specially selected foods, rich in antioxidant and immune-enhancing properties, are blended in a base of alkalizing minerals from hormone-free, goat’s milk. For thousands of years our ancestors regularly ate foods rich in the nutrients necessary to prolong and preserve life. In today’s fast paced society it is difficult, if not impossible, to obtain the quality and concentrations of nutrients necessary to positively impact our health on a daily basis. Garden of Life® has combined antioxidant rich fruits and alkaline forming minerals in one complete product. Fruits of Life™ may help your body fight the destructive nature of free radicals and clear the deposits of acidic wastes at the cellular level.

Why Do We Need Antioxidants?

Antioxidants found in our fruits and vegetables help to fight and neutralize free radicals in our bodies. Free radicals are considered a major component in aging and disease progression. Research has shown that rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue, and even certain types of cancer are the direct result of free radical damage in the body. The destruction of healthy cells may be avoided by simply adding a powerful antioxidant nutrient combination, such as Fruits of Life, to your daily diet.

Why Is Alkalinity Important?

Alkalinity or the proper pH is important because, like body temperature, there is an “optimal” range in which the body prefers to create healthy reactions. Fruits of Life can help ensure that a “preferred pH range” is maintained. The more frequently that preferred pH range is disturbed, the greater the chance of disease. According to Japanese research, these diseases are associated with over acidity (or low pH level) in the body: cancer, arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, gout, kidney disease, chronic fatigue, psoriasis, hives, eczema, osteoporosis, constipation, heartburn, asthma, hay fever, allergies, headaches, neuralgia, indigestion, nausea, obesity, tooth and gum diseases, and leg cramps.

What Is In Fruits of Life?

Fruits of Life™ contains certified organic fruit extracts with high scores in the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) analysis performed at Tufts University in Boston. Foods that score high on this extensive test have been shown to significantly protect cells and their components from oxidative damage and may even slow the processes associated with aging in both body and brain function. “If these findings are borne out in further research, young and middle-aged people may be able to reduce aging-related diseases – including senility – simply by adding high-ORAC foods to their diets,” said ARS administrator Floyd P. Horn. James Joseph, PhD, chief of the neuroscience laboratory at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University in Boston, says: “high ORAC foods have been found to raise the antioxidant power of human blood 10 – 25% and prevent loss of long-term memory and learning ability”.

Antioxidant Fruit Blend

Blueberry: Recent studies have shown that blueberries contain powerful antioxidants which may retard the effects of aging and play a significant role in preventing cancer. James Joseph, PhD, says: “The blueberry has emerged as a very powerful food in the aging battle. Given the possibility that blueberries may reverse short-term memory loss and forestall other affects of aging, their potential may be very great.”

Strawberry: A great source of natural vitamin C and a rich source of phytochemicals such as quercetin and ellagic acid. It also contains anthocyanin, a plant chemical that helps protect against heart disease.

Raspberry: A rich source of ellagic acid, vitamin C, and fiber.

Blackberry: A concentrated source of anthocyanins and other phytochemicals.

Raisin: Raisins (dried grapes), contain more than a dozen known antioxidants, as well as resveratrol, a phytonutrient shown to have cancer-prevention effects. Raisins are a rich source of polyphenols and proanthocyanidins, which are recommended in prevention and treatment protocols for cardiovascular disease, cancer, inflammatory conditions, asthma, diabetes, liver disease, cataracts, and macular degeneration.

Prune: New studies show that, in addition to being a good source of fiber, prunes (dried plums) may also help slow the aging process in both the body and brain.

Mineral Matrix™: Garden of Life® has created this unique blend of alkalizing minerals, enzymes, and probiotics from goat’s milk. Mineral Matrix™ feeds the beneficial flora in the gastrointestinal tract, aiding in proper digestion and elimination. It contains a high concentration of organic sodium and potassium, which produce alkaline reactions at the cellular level and aid in the reduction of acid.

Flavonoids: Flavonoids are potent antioxidants that prevent the formation of free radicals. Flavonoids contain antibacterial and antiviral properties as well as offer protection to the vast network of capillaries and blood vessels in the system. The flavonoids present in Fruits of Life contain properties which help treat vision problems including night blindness. They also strengthen and repair broken capillaries, varicose veins, and cardiac irregularities arising from a decrease in blood flow and arterial blockage.

Proanthocyanidins: This group of antioxidants is found in the seeds of grapes or raisins, and has known immune enhancing effects.

Anthocyanins: Flavonoids such as anthocyanin, found in blueberries, have a unique chemical structure, that makes them 3 – 4 times more potent than vitamin C, according to Ronald L. Prior of Tufts University.

Fruits of Life™ & Anti-aging
by Dave Steinman

Fruits Antioxidant Score CardI’m really trying hard to drink eight or more glasses of water daily and to make them count I often add in various nutritional powders. One of my favorites is Fruits of Life™. This delicious tasting antioxidant fruit blend contains certified organic low temperature dried concentrates of blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, prunes and raisins-as well as a “live food” blend of biologically active alkalizing minerals, enzymes and probiotics from goat’s milk. When I mix with water and agitate in my shaker bottle and enjoy the frothing delicious natural taste of this powder, my body says, “Thanks, Dave, this is good.” I say, “Thanks, Garden of Life for giving to the world life and health.”

One of the things you can count on with Garden of Life is that they’re producing not only supplements but whole food concentrates. Fruits of Life™ is a whole food concentrate-and it’s power-packed. It isn’t my saying so but results from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

There is a test conducted at Tufts University called ORAC-short for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity-that measures the ability of foods, blood plasma, and just about any substance to subdue oxygen free radicals in the test tube. Studies at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University in Boston suggest that consuming fruits and vegetables with a high-ORAC value may help slow the aging process in both body and brain. Early evidence indicates that this antioxidant activity translates to animals, protecting cells and their components from oxidative damage. Getting plenty of the foods with a high-ORAC activity, such as spinach, strawberries, and blueberries, has so far raised the antioxidant power of human blood, prevented some loss of long-term memory and learning ability in middle-aged rats, maintained the ability of brain cells in middle-aged rats to respond to a chemical stimulus, and protected rats’ tiny blood vessels-capillaries-against oxygen damage.

Power-packed Antioxidant Protection
The ORAC values of fruits and vegetables cover such a broad range, you can pick seven with low values and get only about 1,300 ORAC units. Or, you can eat seven with high values and reach 6,000 ORAC units or more. One cup of blueberries alone supplies 3,200 ORAC units. Based on the evidence so far, experts at the USDA and Tufts University suggest that daily intake be increased to between 3,000 and 5,000 ORAC units to have a significant impact on plasma and tissue antioxidant capacity.

Fruits of Life™ Highest in ORAC-rich Fruits
It is notable that Fruits of Life™ is the first and only product to contain the six top fruit antioxidant foods on the planet in one whole food concentrate. Take dried plums. They may be an important defense against aging and its associated diseases, according to researchers at the Center on Aging at Tufts. Their antioxidant ORAC score was 5,770, more than double the next highest fruit antioxidant. Plus, we get all the other top-ranking ORAC-tested fruits-raisins, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries. Now we may not gorge on these on our own. But it’s easy to do with Fruits of Life™.
